REjournals’ 4th Annual Women in Commercial Real Estate Summit, which will take place in Chicago at The Ivy Room on March 8, recognizes the importance of women in the industry and shares industry experiences and intel. REjournals, along with Cancer non-profits Fighting Pretty (named after Gilda Radner of Second City fame), is supporting Chicago area women who are fighting cancer.
REjournals Managing Director of National Events & Marketing Alyssa Gwalinski said that REjournals is asking all real estate professionals, men and women, to make a $10 donation in support of the creation and delivery Fighting Pretty Strength & Beauty Kits. These beauty and strength kits include the Fighting Pretty miniature boxing gloves, a selection of all-natural cosmetics, and a note of encouragement. Gilda’s Club will deliver these boxes to cancer patients at local hospitals and treatment centers.
Participants can take a break from the panel discussions and/or networking to help assemble the Fighting Pretty kit. Near the end of the program everyone can toast Women in Commercial Real Estate, Fighting Pretty, and Gilda’s Club of Chicago to a glass.
Gawlinski stated, “Our goal is be able reach out and show support to those battling breast cancer by producing as many Fighting Pretty Kits as possible.” “These kits and the meaning they represent are so meaningful for those who receive them.”
The program’s incorporation of the making of the kits is a natural extension of the relationship between REjournals, Fighting Pretty, and Fighting Pretty. Fighting Pretty is a non-profit organization whose goal is to make women fighting cancer feel strong. REjournals added a pink ribbon in the Forecast logo ahead of the 2020 Annual Forecast Conference to honor the memory a long-standing colleague who lost her battle with breast cancer. REjournals actively promoted Fighting Pretty’s work.
Gawlinski stated that she is thrilled with the evolution of their relationship with Fighting Pretty. “It really ignited my passion for the organization’s mission and seeing it in action has been a great experience. It’s both personal as well as professional for me.”
Fighting Pretty invited Gawlinski to join its board of director because of her work over the past several years.
