Thompson Thrift, the master developers of Fishers District, has closed on an additional 62-acres of land. This land will be used in the $550 million expansion of Fishers District in the Indianapolis suburb, Fishers, Indiana. Thompson Thrift also sold a portion to the city to finance the development of a 7,500-seat arena. The city of Fishers added AECOM Hunt as a general contractor to the project for the site and construction of the event center. Construction is expected to begin in March.
The state-of the-art event space designed and built by SCI Architects in 2024 will be the new home of the Indy Fuel, the minor league hockey affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. It will also host a variety of concerts, theater productions, and other community and sporting events.
Located east from I-69, between 106th Street and 116th Streets; the overall expansion of Fishers District also includes Slate, a previously-announced multifamily and garden home community with direct accessibility to Fishers District; The Union which expands on lifestyle, multifamily and entertainment options at Fishers District, including the new Fishers Event Center and additional new-to-market restaurants, retail and entertainment destinations.
Thompson Thrift began work on the Fishers District development project in 2015, and was awarded a Monumental Award by the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce in 2020.
